Invisalign in Coimbatore: straighter teeth, almost invisibly
The short answer: Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to move teeth step by step into a position planned from a digital 3D scan. It suits many cases of crowding, gaps and mild to moderate bite problems, and some complex cases are better treated with braces.

How Invisalign works
- 1
Consultation and records
Dr. Saravanan examines your teeth, gums and bite, takes photographs and X-rays where needed, and asks what you would like to change. Not everyone is suited to aligners, and you are told this plainly.
- 2
3D digital scan
Instead of trays of impression material, an iTero intraoral scanner captures your teeth digitally. The scan is the base for your plan and your aligners.
- 3
Your treatment plan
Using the scan, a digital plan (Invisalign’s ClinCheck software) shows how your teeth are intended to move, step by step, and the expected end position. Your orthodontist reviews and adjusts it with you before anything is made.
- 4
Aligners are made
Your set of custom aligners is produced from the approved plan. Small tooth-coloured bumps called attachments may be bonded to some teeth to help certain movements.
- 5
Wear and progress
You wear each set for the period advised, changing to the next in order, and visit the clinic for regular reviews. Some cases need extra “refinement” aligners to fine-tune the result.
- 6
Retention
Once teeth are in position they need retainers to stay there. Clear Vivera retainers, made from a scan, are one option your orthodontist may discuss.

Invisalign or braces?
Neither is better for everyone. Your bite, age and goals decide.
Invisalign compared with braces
| Invisalign | Braces | |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Clear plastic, hard to notice up close | Metal or tooth-coloured brackets and wires |
| Removable | Yes, for meals and cleaning | No, fixed to teeth throughout |
| Eating | Take out, then brush before replacing | Avoid hard and sticky foods |
| Cleaning | Brush and floss as normal | Needs careful cleaning around brackets |
| Effort needed | Must be worn about 20 to 22 hours a day | Works continuously without effort from you |
| Complex cases | Suits many cases; some need braces | Suits almost all cases, including complex ones |
| Check-ups | Reviews at planned intervals | Regular adjustment visits |

Who Invisalign usually suits
- Teens and adults with crowded or gapped teeth
- Mild to moderate bite problems, as judged by an orthodontist
- People who want a less visible option than metal braces
- Patients with healthy gums who will wear aligners as advised
- Adults who want to refine teeth that have shifted, for example after earlier braces
When another approach may be better
- Complex bite or jaw discrepancies that need fixed appliances or surgery
- Untreated gum disease or decay, which must be treated first
- If you are unlikely to wear aligners for most of the day
- Some very rotated or severely tilted teeth
- Young children who would benefit from growth guidance instead
Wearing and caring for aligners
Caring for Invisalign aligners
Wear them
Keep aligners in for about 20 to 22 hours a day. Put the new set in at the time advised, and keep the previous set safe as a spare.
Clean them
Rinse and brush aligners daily with a soft brush and lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, which can warp the plastic, and brush your teeth before putting them back.
Protect them
Always use the case when they are out. Aligners wrapped in tissue are easily thrown away. Call us if one is lost or cracked rather than skipping ahead.
What the timeline can look like
Every case differs; this is the usual shape of treatment.

What affects the cost of Invisalign
There is no single price, because no two mouths are the same. After your examination and scan we explain the options and give you a clear estimate.
- How complex the movement is, and how long treatment will run
- The number of aligners and any refinement sets
- Retainers after treatment
- Any extra procedures such as scaling, fillings or whitening before or after
